Just for Fun

Sometimes I make small one-offs, or do silly little experiments that do not fit as part of a larger project. This is a collection of some
of these works. In theory, I could be commissioned to make something like this to sell you, if you are interested in that email me!

LOL Quilt (2),  Upcycled fabrics, plastic beads, hand stitching, 2024
This little quilt was made for Chummyjiggers, a fundraiser for Union House Arts in Port Union, Newfoundland.

Quilted Vase 1 & 2, 2024, glass bottles, scrap fabric, cotton thread, plastic beads, pink carnations
These quilted vases were made for two different fundraisers. The taller one is for The Sweetest Little Thing, a fundraiser for Struts Gallery and Owens Art Gallery in Sackville, NB. The shorter vase is for Small Work, Big Impact, a fundraiser for the Rotary Arts Centre in Corner Brook, NL. They have up-cycled glass bottles on the inside so they are perfectly functional as vases for cut flowers, but they can also hold anything tall and skinny that needs to be held!

This quilt was entirely hand-stitched very slowly over a year. It was completed in early 2023 and now lives on the orange couch in my living room! All of the fabrics are from East Coast Quilt Co. in St. John's, Newfoundland.

DO YOU DREAM?, Upcycled fabrics, plastic beads, hand stitching, 2022
This quilt has a small pocket that you can reach into to receive a "dream suggestion". There are about 50 dream suggestions including: "Dream about the smell of fresh cut grass." // "Dream about being a crime fighting god. I meant to write dog but wrote god by accident and I think that is also funny." // "Dream about what hyper-specific aspect of your personality Jerry Seinfeld would break up with you over." // "Dream about a handful of small perfect stones."

Gentle Friend, Upcycled fabrics, plastic beads, hand stitching, 2022
This piece was made for Eastern Edge's annual fundraiser Fare & SQUARE. The plastic beads say "gentle" on one side, but can be flipped over to read "friend".

This embroidery and applique piece was made for a colouring contest hosted by Lawnya Vawnya, a local music festival in St. John's, Newfoundland. The winner of the colouring contest would get a free festival pass. Most submissions to the contest were of course, coloured in colouring sheets. Unfortunately, I did not win. My partner went one step further and embroidered the entire colouring sheet, and he of course, won. (I like to think I came in second place.)
