Tell Them From Me

Tell Them From Me, is a group exhibition curated by Bethany MacKenzie, and exhibited at Union House Arts in Port Union, Newfoundland, from June 29 - August 10, 2024. This exhibition featured artworks by Emily Hayes, Ashley Hemmings, Ann Manuel, Alana Morouney, and Sabrina Pinksen.

The works in this exhibition examine the complexities of matrilineal relationships, knowledge, and domesticity present in Atlantic Canada. Using textiles, painting, and interdisciplinary installation, the artists portray the gentle, warm, and at times frigid nature of mother-daughter experiences, and the trauma and healing that happens within them. For the full exhibition description and documentation photos see the UHA website. Riddle Fence Reviews posted an essay about the exhibition written by Luke Quinton, you can read that here.

I had three hooked rugs included in this exhibition, Advice From Nan, Wear Out the Old Horse First, and Nan Stand on the Farmhouse Steps.
